When choosing a Wedding Photographer

When choosing a wedding photographer remember no two weddings or wedding photographers are the same. You may have seen photos and said I want that for my wedding, this is fine but remember different photographers have different styles.

You should have an idea of what you want for your wedding before you find a photographer so that you can discuss these with him or her. These days there is a demand for reportage or candid photography that tends to capture the moment rather than the traditional formal images.

Look for photographers that offer a choice of packages, find out what is included, you may want only black & white or sepia prints, or you may have already picked an album for your prints, in which case you will have to make sure that an album is not included or can be deducted from your package, as most photographers include the album in their pricing.

Once you have found your photographer they should make an appointment with you, take notes ask questions and view their work, you may need to compare these with other photographers before you decide.

Once your decision has been made your photographer may ask for a deposit of about 25% of the cost of the wedding, with the remainder payable either on completion of the wedding or once all prints have been received.

You may also be asked to sign a wedding contract, this is standard, detailing things like date of wedding, location, liability and so on.

Finally if you know anyone who got married, family or friends, ask them about their photographer, word of mouth recommendations are sometimes the best.

When your day comes enjoy it.
