Photographer Tips

You should establish a good rapport with the photographer you ultimately choose and feel confident in his or her abilities as a professional. We have complied some questions and suggestions you may want to consider when choosing a photographer.
  • Meet at least three photographers

  • How many years have they been in business?

  • Who will be the photographer for our wedding?

  • By looking at their portfolio is there evidence of a creative mind or are all the pictures similar?

  • Do they charge by the hour? Is there flexibility if you need them for a shorter or longer period of time?

  • How do you know how many pictures to take?

  • Have they attended your chosen venues before? If not, maybe they should visit them beforehand.

  • What makes your photographs better or different than anybody else's?

  • What time do you arrive to set-up your equipment?

  • What is included in a package? What additional charges are not included?

  • Have you handled events of my type and size before?

  • How much of a deposit do they need?

  • When is the balance due?

  • How long have you been a wedding photographer?

  • How many weddings have you photographed?

  • Do they offer speciality options like black and white photos, panoramic shots or photo CDs?

  • How soon will you be able to see your proofs?

  • What are the procedures regarding proofs?

  • What are the procedures regarding negatives?

  • What are the procedures regarding delivery time?

  • How soon will you be able to get your pictures?

  • What is the price per print for different sizes?

  • Is a deposit required? If so, how much?

  • When should the deposit be paid?

  • Do they offer speciality options like black and white photos, panoramic shots or photo CDs?

  • Are there any additional charges?

  • What type of guarantees do they offer?

  • Do you provide a written contract and guarantee?

  • What is the policy on refunds and cancellations?
