You should establish a good rapport with the photographer you ultimately choose and feel confident in his or her abilities as a professional.
We have complied some questions and suggestions you may want to consider when choosing a photographer.
- Meet at least three photographers
- How many years have they been in business?
- Who will be the photographer for our wedding?
- By looking at their portfolio is there evidence of a creative mind or are all the pictures similar?
- Do they charge by the hour? Is there flexibility if you need them for a shorter or longer period of time?
- How do you know how many pictures to take?
- Have they attended your chosen venues before? If not, maybe they should visit them beforehand.
- What makes your photographs better or different than anybody else's?
- What time do you arrive to set-up your equipment?
- What is included in a package? What additional charges are not included?
- Have you handled events of my type and size before?
- How much of a deposit do they need?
- When is the balance due?
- How long have you been a wedding photographer?
- How many weddings have you photographed?
- Do they offer speciality options like black and white photos, panoramic shots or photo CDs?
- How soon will you be able to see your proofs?
- What are the procedures regarding proofs?
- What are the procedures regarding negatives?
- What are the procedures regarding delivery time?
- How soon will you be able to get your pictures?
- What is the price per print for different sizes?
- Is a deposit required? If so, how much?
- When should the deposit be paid?
- Do they offer speciality options like black and white photos, panoramic shots or photo CDs?
- Are there any additional charges?
- What type of guarantees do they offer?
- Do you provide a written contract and guarantee?
- What is the policy on refunds and cancellations?
